S.E. QLD Healthy Waterway's 2010 : Pure Irony

Postby pink nipper » Tue Jun 28, 2011 12:44 pm

Here are some of the results of the Queensland Healthy Waterways Survey from last year 2010.

Note : THERE IS NO WORSE RATING THAN "F"

Logan River F
Albert River F
Oxley River F
Bremer River F
Southern Bay F
Deception Bay D
Brisbane River D
Pumicestone Passage D
Caboolture D
Moreton Bay C
Noosa Heads B

A = Exclellent
B = Good
C = Fair
D = Poor
F = Fail - Conditions do not meet ecosystem health values; most key processes are not functional and most critical habitats have been severely impacted "":( .

Wonder how the Richmond River catchment would score... : jumping laugh:

Thats a worry. Do you think its the greenies being alarmists or is there really a problem there? I haven't seen most of those river systems :sad:

Well I'd give the Richmond an "F", based mainly on the environmental damage and degradation of the surrounding wetlands and the acidic cane drains that feed the system, also the abundance of weeds on crown land along side the river which council seems to turn a blind eye to, also the erosion of the embankments from boats going too fast which is not controlled at all as far as I can see, especially in the holiday season.

Alot more needs to be done by council, fisheries and the maritime authority to clean up the system,.

Thats my 2 cents. :think: :think:
