Kilcoy Fishing CLub COmp 22/8/09

Today was the monthly Kilcoy Fishing club comp at the upper end of Sommerset dam. First comp day in the dam for a few months, last two have been salt water comps.

Well Erin and I got the usual donut, excuse is we only fished for two hours.


Reality is it has been cruel to lures for months! Quite windy in the main bay, warm and still upstream behind the island.

This is from memory, so may be highly inaccurate

Wayne (who usually gets the most fish) only got 3 catties

Andrew and his missus both bagged out on bass, Silvers, catties, but only got 4 yella's between them. They had to throw 10 big silvers back out of their live tank at the ramp, they thought the bag limit was 10 each!

Dave and his missus Also bagged out on Silvers, Bass, Catties, with 2 yella's to Dave.

The two old boys who target only catties were whinging they had to throw 45 back between them after they bagged out in the first 15 minutes.

All fish caught anchored on high side of drop offs, casting to deep water (10 foot to 18/20 foot)

Salt water yabbies took some, mostly caught on worms and live shrimp. Most silvers caught on shrimp so they must really be on the chew! Nothing on lures.


Biggest yella 2.6kg
Biggest silver 1.4kg
Biggest Cattie 2kg
biggest bass 1.6kg

No tilapia caught at all.

ha ha ha i read that lol i had a come back today at the comp on the clarence i took out the bream(1.065kg) so get that in ya lol

I did a bit better on my home ground today as well. Not as well as I would have liked, but at least I saw some fish!
