Naughty, Naughty Borg
Naughty, Naughty Borg
Angler Darren "Dizzy" Borg yesterday copped a two-year good behaviour order for threatening to upload his ex-lover's sex tape to the internet.
The former national bream fishing champion told the Southport Magistrates Court he snapped after a bitter break-up with his secret lover and fishing partner of three years, Tracey Mammen.
The pair met at the Gold Coast Sportfishing Club and while winning three consecutive team fishing tournaments they began an affair behind the back of Ms Mammen's girlfriend of 10 years.
After the affair ended last year, Borg sent her an email on September 26 warning that if she continued to compete in fishing competitions without him, he would upload a link to one of their sex tapes.
He reinforced the threat by attaching a still photo from one of their consensual home videos.
In court yesterday Borg, 45, pleaded guilty to the Commonwealth offence of using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.
His lawyer Lisa Searing said Borg sent the email after the break-up.
She said her client had tired of hiding their relationship from Ms Mammen's girlfriend but he was abused on Facebook when he tried to cut ties.
Ms Searing said Borg was mocked and blocked on Facebook by the women but he was unable to provide evidence when he complained to police.
The court was told Borg was widely respected in fishing circles but Ms Searing said his painful personal life had left him angry.
Magistrate Paul Johnstone chastised Borg for his revenge attempt.
"I'm told you are embarrassed and ashamed and so you should be," he said.
He ordered police to delete any inappropriate videos or images from Borg's laptop and said it was a warning for other lovers in the digital age.
