Brownwater Richmond Flats Fish

Postby pink nipper » Sat Mar 09, 2013 5:37 pm

Went for my first fish today in the saltwater
since the rains came and had me upriver
chasing brown water rain bass in the fresh. :fishing:

Down on the flats near the mouth the water was
still very brown but the sun was out. It was good
enough to go for a walk and to cast some lures
for flathead on a run out tide. :fish:

Blades and soft plastics were thrown and amazingly the
fish were finding the lures in the dirty water. There were
some unkown short strikers on the soft plastics
but the SP's still accounted for at least half the fish.

Eight flathead were landed to 63cm as well as a couple of by-catch bream.
All fish were released except a few flathead that came home to meet the
family. Hopefully the rain will hold off and fishing will now
be on the cards again. :funfish:

g day pink ,was in ballina for the day yesterday ,had a fish with my lads, got one flatty at burns ferry in a dissapointing day, waters pretty brown,we had a wander around serpintine and north crk boatramp, great spots but no bites would they be better on low tide when you walk further.is the mouth of the river you refer to above in ballina,.we tried off the rock wall on south ballina to,went over on the ferry and went hard right, not up to entrance.still a great day with my lad though.cheers toowoomba john

Bulldogs,

The best tide for chasing lizards landbased in the Richmond during the day is the last two
hours of the runout. Sounds like you are learning more spots in the Richmond which is a good thing. :fishing:

The rockwall you went to in South Ballina is near Mobs Bay. If you go there on low tide there is a beach
for the kids to play on :fish:
