Beach fishing

Postby bettaman » Mon Jun 04, 2012 5:08 pm

Tried my luck today lure fishing on the beach.

Didnt have any hits at all. It was low tide and i was casting 60-70 metres out. I was fishing the gutters which where close up to the beach.

I think i may have seen a talior chasing but it might just have been a mullet.

I was using a 40 gram metal slug and a 5 inch paddle fish in drop bear colour.

anything im doing wrong?

Bettaman,

Try doing it again right on dark close to rocks, or off a rock platform or a breakwall.
Try high tide as well as low tide, generally high tide off the beach.

Don't be afraid to use bait off the beach also.

Take your light bream gear down if the gutters are close in and throw some gulp 3 inch minnows on 1/8th to 1/4 heads. We nail some thumper snowy bream and xos dart this way as well as flatties sitting on the gutter ledges. The big dart are a ton of fun on the light gear.

Good thinking!

My shoulder is sore today! Maybe I should bait fish with the beach rod and lure fish with the bream rod.
