Does anyone have any advice on targeting bream on lutre through winter? are they better targeted in the upper or lower reaches, depp/shallow, types of lures. any tips would be appreciated
winter is the only season my bream fishing on lures really goes downhill

In winter I do a lot of deep water blading but cranking walls etc can still be productive

this has got the fish interested, does get frustrating to watch the bream follow the lure and kiss the rear treble as if they are taunting me

Deep water blading in the lower reaches for sure but as Scizz said deep cranks on the walls can also produce some hot winter action.

Try a Gamakatsu size 12 wide gape treble on the rear of your crank. It can really improve the hookup on tenative bites.

I haven't been fishing much at all lately but when I have using 3lb flurocarbon line straight through has made a big difference in clear spooky water.

One tactic people don't realise is very productive in winter is fishing over the flats on a big run in tide. FIsh like bream, whiting, flathead etc will move up to the shallow weed beds to feed and get away from the strong current. Topwater and shallow cranks can be even more productive than in summertime when it's firing.
