Lowrance Elite4x or 4x-DSI?

Hi guys,

my fish finders packed it in on the tinny and need a replacement quicksmart. Only on a small budget, so I've come up with these two options. I only fish estuaries, mostly really skinny water and tight creeks so no need for fancy gismos and chart plotters etc. Up until now ive had very basic fish finders, entry level really and they have sufficed but I wouldnt mind something I can see better in the middle of the day and a better mount (tilt and swivel) so I can see the damn thing from any where Im standing.

Firstly, has anybody used either of these sounders?

Secondly, is it worth the extra deutchmarks for the down scan imaging..

Mate only just saw this, so sorry for late reply.

You would be best off going to see adrian at Ballina Marineland, he knows his sounders and will give you the best advice.

I have an old sounder for $100 if you get stuck.

thanks proff, i would have gone to ballina but wouldnt have made it in time before closing. got a DSI from lismore outboards btw.. happy so far
